Street Team Show!

Happy Spring everybody! I just had to share this gorgeous Orchid with you...I went to the Orchid Show yesterday at the North Carolina Arboretum. All of the colors are just beautiful and such an inspiration. If you ever get in one of those designing slumps [like we all do from time to time], just one afternoon at the Arboretum will certainly get your creative juices flowing again, I promise. So now to the business at hand.

If you are reading this post, I'm assuming that you have joined the "Asheville Etsy Street Team" through the Etsy website. If not, you can contact the team by clicking on the link and asking to join [the criteria for becoming a member is listed on that page, as well]. Basically, you just need to live in or around the Asheville area and have a shop on Etsy to join. By becoming a member, you can then gain access to the google group, which is specifically for members only and where most of the "happenings" of the group are shared and discussed. One of the recent discussions was about having a "Street Team Show". Several members were very interested and six of us got together last Tuesday evening to start initial planning. Since we are not sure of how many members actually belong to the google group, I am posting this message to the blog, as well. Our next "planning" meeting will be on Monday, April 26th. If you are interested in helping to plan the show, or just interested in having a space to sell your work at the show, please let me know. You can either post a comment to this blog, or send me an e-mail directly: Kathy@dornickdesigns.com ~ if you leave a comment, please include your name and e-mail address so we can add you to the list and keep you updated on the progress.

So far, Emily has been in contact with the "Orange Peel" and they are perfectly fine with us having a show there...we just need to pin-point a date. It looks like September 4th will possibly work, but that's still not for certain right now. But it's exciting and it's a start. Any input from you will certainly be appreciated!!

A big "Thanks" to Michelle for getting this whole thing started! Thanks Michelle!! I also want to thank Shannon & Liz for creating the Team to begin with and for their support. Thanks Shanon & Liz! And, if you haven't done so yet, be sure to become a "Fan" of the Asheville Etsy Street Team Facebook page! ~ Thanks Shannon!

I'm certainly looking forward to meeting more of the team members.
Thanks for being so awesome everybody & keep supporting handmade!

HandMade in America

HandMade in America is a not for profit organization striving to create opportunities for local crafts people and artisans here in WNC. They work throughout our region to promote economic development through crafts, educational practices incorporating crafts, provide resources and technical assistance to crafts people, and much more!

They also have an incredible resource, the HandMade in America Craft Registry, which is a database consisting of thousands of regional craftspeople. Additionally, they send out bi-monthly newsletters about craft events in WNC.

HandMade in America would like to invite all of the Etsy members here in Asheville, and our region, to join their Craft Registry. The listing is free and can be a great networking tool. Add your name to the database today!
